New Semester Resolutions.

My short semester is coming to an end. I can't believe how 7 weeks just flew by like that. As a new year and a new semester is approaching, I'm quite determined to make a few changes in my life :)
A new school year is like a new clean slate. This clean slate gives us an opportunity to fix our bad habits, organize our lives, and set new goals.
While many of my new semester resolutions pertain to school, they do not all have to be. This is also a great time to set fitness & health goals, social goals, and other personal goals. Here are some of my goals for this semester.
1. Get organized
The more I browse through Pinterest, the more I become obsessed with these daily planners. Some of them are just so damn lovely. This doesn't help with my love for stationery and beautiful notebooks. Ugh. Shame. This semester, I shall write down my upcoming events for the week on a Sunday night. This actually helps get things off your mind and you don't have to worry about missing an event. Just add to your planner whenever another event comes up.
2. Exercise.
Sad to say, due to several factors, I've reached my heaviest this year. Even after shedding some weight, I've put them back on for the same reasons. Unintentionally, definitely. This wasn't supposed to happen. So, next semester, I shall squeeze in at least 15 minutes of workout 3 times a week. No matter how busy I am. I've to put my foot down on this. Or the other alternative is sambar rasam ;)
3. Eat clean
Stress doesn't help me much with this resolution. My hunger pangs have grown out of hand lately. This should actually start as soon as possible. Limit ZC's fried chicken to twice a week. {hopefully I can keep up to this} Not to forget a banana everyday.
4. Be an attentive student
I actually slept through an entire class this whole semester. Plugged in my headphones and sat behind in class. Trust me, the class was so freaking boring!! The first few weeks I was all excited, taking notes in class and all. This excitement slowly died. I resolve to actually be IN the class, in the class.
5. Don't hate your lecturer, NO MATTER WHAT
Been there, done that. It affects your grades. Please, no play play.

STQ Class Preparation

STQ  Selected Themes of Quran, is 90% of what the seniors know as BTQ)

It's a lovely subject, if only there were less things to memorize

So, what's there?

  • MID SEM EXAMINATION
Only two chapters are covered here. Al-Hidayah and Al-'Ilm (Knowledge). Make sure you memorize both the required Quranic ayat as provided in the course outline. 3 marks go down the drain if you don't.

  • ASSIGNMENT & PRESENTATION
Each is 10%. You'd have a topic (you'll draw lots or the topic would be assigned to your group) and your presentation would be based on your assignment. There's be lots of reading and visiting the library. You'd be assessed individually as well as in a group. What contributes to your group score is teamwork, your accuracy of answering questions, creativity, time management etc. Your individual marks would consist of your language and performance.

  • MEMORIZATION
Currently doing this right now. You're to memorize Surah al-Furqan from verse 61-77. You'll be asked to recite four verses from those 16 verses. They'll also ask you what do you understand from the verses you have just recited. (10%)

  • QUIZ
One of the eight topics you've studied will come out. This contributes 5% to your score for the subject.

  • FINALS
'Nuff said.

All the best !
